The Division of High-Throughput Sequencing is seeking a Senior Systemadministrator (m/w/d) Linux, Storage, HPC (Ref-No. 2019-0079) For the High-Throughput Sequencing Unit, we are looking for a system administrator to manage the departments, the storage, and compute clusters. The High-Throughput Sequencing Division is one of the largest sequencing centers in Europe and the only academic site in Germany with a fleet of Illumina HiSeq X-Ten and NovaSeq devices. Description: Planning and administration of storage systems, mainly for genomic data (currently Isilon and Spectrum Scale, approx. 20 terabytes of new data per month) Administration of the compute cluster (about 150 compute nodes / 10,000 cores) which is used for our bioinformatics pipelines, and advice to the users Operation of our physical and virtual servers as well as the laboratory and office computers (mainly Linux, Windows) Administration of the unit's virtualization cluster (oVirt) Your profile: Deep knowledge of petabyte-scale enterprise storage systems (Isilon OneFS, IBM GPFS) Profound knowledge of Linux and high-performance computing, ideally with life science workloads Experience with enterprise virtualization environments Knowledge of general best practices in IT, e.g. monitoring, logging, automated configuration, update management, asset management Ideally experience in the implementation of the EU General Data Protection Regulation Capacity for teamwork Then position is limited to 2 years with the possibility of prolongation.
